How Are Your Research Dollars Spent?

Your support of the National Brain Tumor Society allows us to invest wisely and strategically to support cutting-edge research in the United States and Canada.

Research funding in 2008 was provided by our two legacy organizations, the Brain Tumor Society (BTS) and the National Brain Tumor Foundation (NBTF). Funds from NBTF went to innovative research with a focus on epidemiology, quality of life, and specific tumor types (glioblastoma and oligodendroglioma). While investigations funded through a request for proposal process for basic and translational research made up more than 90% of total research projects funded through the BTS Research Grant Program, including the Low-Grade Glioma Initiative.

Together, in 2008, the two legacy organizations gave more than $4.5 million to brain tumor research across North America. As the National Brain Tumor Society, we anticipate even greater research funding in 2009.

Hope for a cure is supported by generous gifts from our supporters. Investigations that are not supported by a specific Chair of Research or Named Grant are made possible through our countless other donors and fundraising event participants.
