Today is my birthday

by Sandra

If, in the spring of 2005, I had not gone to an ENT for what I thought was post-nasal drip irritation in the back of my throat, I would not be having a birthday today. Through his experience and education, he is the one that discovered my 6.5cm (roughly the size of a lime or small lemon) benign meningioma in the right temporal area of my head. The surgery and recovery were horrendous because of the size of the tumor. If the tumor had not been found when it was ,my neurosurgeon felt I would have been dead within a year. What I was feeling in the back of my throat was my brain being pushed down into the soft tissue. Today on my 56th birthday. I have four children plus two grandchildren on the way. Some days are more difficult than others, my vision was affected and I have developed TMJ. Thank you for allowing me to share.
