Story Corner Privacy and Terms of Use Policy
Story Corner is a portion of the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) website that allows those in the brain tumor community to share their personal stories of how brain tumors have affected them. Before you choose to submit a story, we ask that you read the following rules and agree to the Terms and Conditions of this site. Reading theese guidelines will help you understand how the website is operated and how information you submit will be used.
Guidelines for Story Corner submissions
- Focus your story on the non-medical aspects of dealing with a brain tumor: how it impacted on your life/family; how you coped; what you learned; or encouragement for others facing similar challenges.
- We may edit your story for length, readability, and appropriateness.
- All stories are accepted on a free basis, without charge or royalties.
- Share what you are comfortable sharing in such a public forum as a website.

Submission & usage policy
This policy explains how the Story Corner section of NBTS's website collects and uses information submitted by site visitors. We recognize the value of personal privacy and copyright protection and wish to protect your information.
Policies governing your submission of content
You are responsible for the content of your story. The information posted on this feature does not necessarily reflect the views of NBTS and in no event shall NBTS assume or have any responsibility or liability for any information posted to this feature or for any claims, damages, or losses resulting from the use and/or appearance of such information on this feature.
By clicking the "Submit" button on the "Submit Your Story" submission form, you agree that your submission, including text, and digital images, is original to you; that you hold all necessary rights to this work or have permission from the copyright holder, or the work is in the public domain; and that the submission does not defame or otherwise violate the rights, copyrights, trademarks, publicity, privacy, or reputation of any third party.
Under this agreement you have all necessary rights to this posting, and will retain ownership of your submission. However, you hereby grant to NBTS and NBTS hereby accepts a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and present such information in any and all media now known or hereinafter devised.
You understand that submitting content does not guarantee that your work will be published on this website. The decision of how and which submissions received through the NBTS website will be used will be at the sole discretion of NBTS.
Protecting your personal information
We ask you to provide your name and email address when you submit your story. Please note, your first name, how you choose to provide it, will be displayed on the NBTS website. In addition, your first name may be displayed in connection with any use of your submission by NBTS. When submitting your name, you are advised to use a name that you want the public to see. Email addresses and last names will only be used for administrative purposes by NBTS. Your email address and last name will not be displayed on the website, nor will it be shared or sold to a third party.
We also may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to (a) comply with the law or with legal process, (b) protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the website, or (c) protect the personal safety or property of website users, the public, or NBTS and its employees.
