My New Life

by Cindy

On June 10, 2011, I found out that I had 3 brain tumors. The symptoms I experienced were visual changes and a seashell sound in my ears. It also included a bump behind my left ear. I went to the ER and they did a CT Scan and the ER doctor told me that I had 2 masses on my brain. He didn't know if it was brain cancer. They did an MRI and found 3 brain tumors. I was admitted to the hospital and had one brain tumor removed from the frontal lobe area the next morning. My neurosurgeon explained that it was the biggest out of the 3 tumors and that I was symptomatic. After a few days in the hospital, the symptoms disappeared.

I recovered quickly and returned to work after 2 weeks. During this time I was very emotional. Everything felt intense emotionally. When I returned home from the hospital, I turned on the TV and the movie, "The Bucket List" was on. I cried like a baby. It helped me release a lot of emotions that I was holding in. I was still in shock from the prognosis and I didn't know what the future held for me. After 10 weeks, I went back for an MRI and the doctor told me that the other 2 tumors have not changed. I've decided to wait until February 2012; which is the next MRI and doctor's appointment. The next surgery for the brain tumor behind my left ear might be next year or possibly the following year, if no problems arise.
