I lost my sister on March 12, 2011. She was diagnosed with GBM, grade four brain cancer. She had just turned 29 when she was diagnosed. She underwent three open brain surgeries within the following year. She underwent radiation and tried different chemos but the tumor just kept on coming back, more and more aggressive each time. Near the end, the tumor grew out of her brain, visible for all to see. It was a very rare condition and made her the 7th case in the world of brain cancer history.
Through it all, my sister, showed such grace, strength and wisdom. She showed me how to live gracefully even knowing the end is near. She died, survived by a daughter who is turning two next week, a husband who became a widower after just three years of marriage, and a sister who loves her with all her life and heart.
Sharing my stories is part of my healing process. I you will also find some comfort in your grief in reading about my memories of my sister.
