Devon's story is quite amazing and a sure sign the Lord is watching over him. Devon started getting upset stomachs in the morning mostly before Saturday football games. His pediatrician and us just thought it was anxiety from football and the stress of school. Then football ended and the vomiting frequency got more often. Then Mike just decided one morning that was it, he was taking him back to Pediatric Associates and did. They referred us to see a Gastronologist named Dr. Mallah (this man saved our son) he didn't just order up food allergy testing, and various other tests, but for some reason he ordered a MRI for Devon. Who would guess a guy interested in upper and lower GI stuff would order a MRI. Well we went to Lutheran Hospital on Thursday October 27th, that is when they discovered the tumor in Devon's brain. Dr. Mallah informed us of the terrible news and said to immediatly drive him to Riley in Indy. We got here late that night. After meeting with a top national ranked Nerosurgen Dr. Boaz we learned Devon needed surgery to have it removed. They planned the surgery for Monday morning and the next couple of days they gave steroids to help reduce risks during the brain surgery. After the swelling on his brain went down, they preformed a 10 hour surgery to remove the tumor, which was a malignant medulloblastoma. The doctor says they have removed 90-95% of the tumor according to the MRI and that its a treatable and most often successful recovery. We all have faith that God wanted Devon to be here with us, and is going to continue to heal him. Thank you to everyone who sent thoughts and prayers, and please continue!
