On December 19th, 2007, my life changed forever. I was 22 and was diagnosed suddenly with a large brain tumor called Hemangiopericytoma. Looking back, I should have seen the signs, but being young and innocent, I didn't. I went in for surgery on Christmas Eve and had 65% of my tumor removed. I got out of the hospital and was referred to a balance specialist for physical therapy. His name was Mark. I started going to him 3 times a week and was also going to daily radiation treatments called Tomotherapy. It was hard to keep a positive attitude sometimes, but having close family and friends kept me going. I wanted to get better and live my life. Mark and I started becoming close friends and we actually got married on September 25th, 2011. He is the man of my dreams and I am now 4 years with being tumor free! Going through the struggles of the brain tumor to now being the happiest I have ever been has taught me that good things do come from bad situations! |
