Cyst in Third Ventricle blocking Spinal Fluid Flow

by Charlotte

In 2003, I had a cyst in the third ventricle which had enlarged, so it was blocking the spinal fluid flow into my brain.  The symptoms were occasional staggering, headaches and memory concerns. Dr. Chris Smith at Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona performed endoscopic surgery, tearing out one side of the cyst so it could drain and leaving one side of membrane - it has never reformed and I have been 100% since. I was in the hospital 3 days with no pain. Dr Smith is very highly skilled in endoscopic surgery which was a great benefit to me.
