NBTF makes grants to support cutting-edge research in the United States and Canada. Because brain tumors are relatively rare, making research more challenging, our grants often focus on funding collaborative projects that can leverage the work of multiple researchers into new treatments.

The types of research projects we fund:

1. Focus on Epidemiology – the “causes” of brain tumors

Some examples of research projects we have recently funded with donor’s generous support:

Melissa L. Bondy, PhD
UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
Project Title: A Pilot Study of the Association of Inflammation-related Genes and
Glioblastoma

Joseph L. Wiemels, PhD
University of California, San Francisco
Project Title: The Role of Tumor Antigens in the Immunologic Rejection of Brain
Tumors (BTEC Pilot Study)

2. Funds Quality of Life / Caregiver Grants
