Ride Hard USA

Dominic Casserly and Andrew Meers, better known as Dom and Meers have begun their 6-8 week bike ride across the Untied States! They started in San Diego, California and heading for St. Augustine, Florida. These artists have learned that their menus need to be upgraded from peanut butter, jelly and Ramen to almost anything else. What is most important about these two riders is that they know of no one personally with brain cancer! They want to have a purpose to their ride, and read about John and Mike Logsdon’s Spinning Southward Journey when beginning to make their own plans. A website for fundraising is being worked on now.

To reach Dom directly, send him an e-mail at hollistonadventure@yahoo.com

La Jolla Marathon 2008

The B-Team was created in memory of Steve Wilson.  Steve was first diagnosed with a GBM brain tumor on May 22, 2007 and after months of treatment and complications; he passed away on December 19, 2007.  He was an amazing husband, father, coach, and friend - life will never be same without him.

The B-Team is a racing/fundraising team with the goal of bringing awareness to the devastation of brain cancer, specifically GBM, and to fundraise for brain cancer research.  The La Jolla Marathon is the B-Team's second event this year.  They are looking for competitors, supporters, and sponsors!

Jumping in Memory of Mickey! at the Lexington Horse Show, Lexington, Kentucky

Tory Watters Leblond was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 14, after two years of migraine headaches. She lost her vision but never lost her love for horses, and continues to ride regularly and jump in the East Coast Horse Shoes. This past winter, her best friend since college, Mickey McDonald Welker, also a horse lover, died of brain cancer.

“I thought my fighting back, my refusal to let brain cancer steer me clear of horses, was my lesson. The fact that Mickey did not survive, gave me a new goal. At the U.S. International Hunter Derby, I hope to raise $30,000 for research.

12th Annual Long Island gold coast Triathlon

This is the second annual Running for John!, coordinated by Meredith Doyle, and perfectly scheduled for Father’s Day! Three years ago, her father, John, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and each day his success at beating this disease brings a special smile to her.

“When he was diagnosed, I remember feeling absolutely helpless. Up until this point in my life, I knew only a sense of safety and accomplishment. After all my family went through, and the help we received from the National Brain Tumor Foundation, I want to reach out an offer them the same. There will be a team of us running in this race, and we plan to double our donations from last year! Our goal is raising $6,000.”
