Dear Friends,

As the Chair of NBTFs Board of Directors, I thank you for contacting the National Brain Tumor Foundation and visiting our web site. We are very excited about the launching of this new and improved website. NBTF has worked on making it easier for you to find support and resources quickly.

Like many of you, my family has been personally touched by brain-related illness. I lost my father to a metastatic brain tumor in 1982 and my sister to a brain aneurysm in 2000. The grief that a family endures when a loved one is sick is unfortunately all too familiar for me.

My career path has always been focused in the field of science, initially as a cancer researcher before moving on to medical marketing. Working with NBTF is an extension of my long-standing commitment to making a difference for the patients and families that struggle with brain tumors.

Today, we stand at an exciting juncture in NBTFs 25-year history. We are growing and doing more for the brain tumor community than ever before. In the past 12 months alone, NBTF has accomplished the following:

  • Doubled our amount of funding for brain tumor research
  • Launched a financial assistance program for adult brain tumor patients
  • Hosted the first ever patient conference on brain tumors and the environment
  • Expanded caregiver training workshops to more than a dozen cities across the country
  • Responded to over 1,000 telephone calls and received over 60,000 hits on our website, www.braintumor.org, every month.

With 190,000 new cases of brain tumors diagnosed every year, our aim is to continue to search for a cure for brain tumors and to provide a complete package of services and support to each and every family whose lives have been touched by this illness. We appreciate all of your support and work hard to give help and hope to every family facing the diagnosis of a brain tumor.

Gratefully yours,

Allison Jones Thomson
Chair, Board of Directors
